Third Story Workshop

Recently, I had the opportunity to teach a workshop at Third Story, and it was a great experience.

Workshop at Thirdstory in Lancaster Pa

For the workshop, each participant received 3 pounds of clay, with an additional 50 pounds available if needed, along with all the tools necessary to create their projects. I started the session with a demonstration to introduce the techniques and process, and then it was off to the races as everyone began working on their own creations.

The participants ranged from young children to adults, and it was incredible to see the variety of ideas that emerged. Everyone brought their own creativity and perspective to the project, and the level of talent in the room was honestly amazing.

What surprised me most was the attention to detail from some of the younger students. They weren't afraid to experiment, and many of them added intricate details and textures to their pieces. The plates they created looked fantastic, and it was inspiring to watch their ideas come to life in clay.

One of my favorite parts of teaching workshops is seeing how different people approach the same project. Even though everyone started with the same materials and instructions, no two pieces were alike. Each participant created something uniquely their own, which is one of the things I love most about working with clay.

Some Of The Final Work

Overall, the workshop was a wonderful experience, and I'm grateful to everyone who participated. Seeing their excitement, creativity, and willingness to explore new techniques reminded me why I enjoy sharing ceramics with others.

Cheers
